Fridcorp Doubles the Density of Controversial South Yarra Apartment Tower

BOUTIQUE builder Fridcorp has redesigned and rebranded the controversial $120 million South Yarra apartment proposal that it bought into a couple of months ago. The site, on the south-west corner of Chapel Street and Alexandra Avenue and opposite the Yarra River, has for some 18 months been marketed as Tresor – a 14-level tower which would have included 99 luxury apartments (artist impression, right). Network Nine executive director Jeff Browne was one of Tresor’s highest profile buyers, paying a reported $5 million for a four-bedroom unit, off-the-plan. [...]

Nathan Tinkler’s Buildev Invests in Sleepy Wonthaggi, Victoria

MILLIONS of interstate mining dollars will be invested in sleepy South Gippsland. Sydney-based developer Buildev – of which NSW based mining magnate Nathan Tinkler (pictured, right) is a key shareholder – has signed an agreement to acquire part of the Wonthaggi Golf Club, on South Dudley Road and a stretch of Bass Highway known as McKenzie Street, north of the Wonthaggi township. Buidev plans to build medium density housing, tourist accommodation and a retirement village on a 15 hectare slice of the course. Melbourne Fire Brigade Pays $6.45 Million For Melbourne Suburban Office

THE State government has outbid a brigade of owner occupiers to snap up a hot office building in the heart of Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, which will eventually become home to the Melbourne Fire Brigade. The MFB has paid $6.45 million for a double-storey standalone office at 1721 Malvern Road in Glen Iris, near the train station and High Street intersection. On a block measuring 1603 square metres, the 1893 square metre building was last renovated in 2006. It includes 57 basement car parks, and currently returns a yearly rent of $523,450, mostly from tenant Preston Aviation Solutions. [...]

Mirvac to Start Marketing Homes at Former Austral Bricks Site by October 2010

TWO years after Mirvac paid Brickworks Limited a staggering $100 million for its Austral Bricks site, in Melbourne’s south-east, the Sydney-based developer is ready to start marketing the first homes. Mirvac Victoria CEO John Carfi says the first blocks at the site, known as 525 Stud Road, in Scoresby, should be put to the market in October. The Austral Bricks site spreads 56 hectares, and spills into the neighbouring suburb of Wantirna South. [...]
