DEVELOPER Mirvac has moved to assure neighbours that at least 20 per cent of the Eastern Golf Course will remain as open space. The assurance, from Mirvac chief executive John Carfi, comes as Manningham Council considers a report into planning scheme amendment C86, which will guide development of the 47ha site. > > > What do you think of Mirvac’s plans? Let us know in the comments section below. The state planning panel report, due for public release on June 15, will advise the council on whether its planning scheme amendment should be adopted. Eastern Golf Club announced last week Mirvac had bought the site with the sale still dependent on approval of the club’s planned move to Yering. Mr Carfi said the company might not agree with all aspects of the amendment but its emphasis on open space, protecting trees, integrating with existing properties and maintaining the area’s heritage would be respected. He said early plans were for about 800 dwellings including houses, terraces and apartments. “(There are) apartments slated for along Doncaster Rd, you’ve got some terrace inset from there and then large land lot sizes up the back end of the site,” he said. “You’ll have smaller lot sizes for your terrace homes – they might start at 200sqm – and you’ll have anything up to 600-700sq m.” Mr Carfi said 70 per sent of the property would be targeted at the $600,000 to $850,000 price bracket but opportunities existed for both high-end and more affordable developments. He said Mirvac planned to build about 30 per cent of the dwellings and sell the rest as vacant land with “architectural requirements” for any houses that are built. However, Mr Carfi said the plans were subject to changes depending on market demand.
