Victorian Planning Minister Approves $271 Million Expansion of SP Ausnet Facility, Brunswick East

ONE of Brunswick East’s biggest developments will take place behind wire gates, after planning minister Matthew Guy approved a $271 million expansion of SP Ausnet’s Brunswick Terminal Station, at the T-intersection of Glenlyon Road and King Street. The application for the site, which abuts the Merri Creek and is near the suburb border of Fitzroy North and Northcote, was to have been decided by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal after the Moreland City Council rejected the proposal last November. Catholic Leadership Centre to Start Construction, East Melbourne

COMMUTERS stuck at the congested intersection best dubbed a traffic sewer will be able to watch a $25 million redevelopment of a prominent East Melbourne church site. The Catholic Leadership Centre will be developed within buildings, and on surplus land surrounding the prominent Celtic Church on the south-west corner of Hoddle and Victoria streets – about three blocks away from the Fitzroy Gardens, and five blocks from the MCG. The centre will include a new short term accommodation complex for 45 people, a dining room for 400, and a basement car park with 59 bays. Melbourne Fire Brigade Pays $6.45 Million For Melbourne Suburban Office

THE State government has outbid a brigade of owner occupiers to snap up a hot office building in the heart of Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, which will eventually become home to the Melbourne Fire Brigade. The MFB has paid $6.45 million for a double-storey standalone office at 1721 Malvern Road in Glen Iris, near the train station and High Street intersection. On a block measuring 1603 square metres, the 1893 square metre building was last renovated in 2006. It includes 57 basement car parks, and currently returns a yearly rent of $523,450, mostly from tenant Preston Aviation Solutions. [...]
