Bendigo Art Gallery to be Expanded Again

THE popular Bendigo Art Gallery (part of interior pictured, right) is to expand, again, to cater for two new gallery spaces, a bigger entrance and new storage and loading facilities. The $7.55 million project will be funded by a $3.8 million state government contribution, a $3.3 million council contribution and a $450,000 philanthropic offering. Esat Gippsland Newspapers to Move From 120-Year Bairndale Home

EAST Gippsland Newspapers is a step closer to relocating its editorial headquarters and printing facilities to out of town. Last month, the East Gippsland Shire Council amended a zoning affecting a site at 870 Princes Highway, in Hillside, on the western outskirts of Bairnsdale – where EGN wants to build its next centre of operations. EGN has outgrown its MacLeod Street office and is leaving Bairnsdale after almost 120 years. Its proposed new Hillside headquarters, which relied on this council amendment to get moving, will be prominent to rail as well as road commuters heading into the township, as it also abuts the Melbourne Bairnsdale Railway Line. Mirvac Gets Ready to market Sixth Docklands Skyscraper

SYDNEY-based developer Mirvac will launch its sixth Docklands skyscraper, Yarra Point, in October. Mirvac will adopt a design strategy used at its Tower 5 complex nearby, and the Melburnian, in St Kilda Road, by targeting top-end buyers with a high quality product. This is reflected in the sale price, where one-bedroom flats are expected to be priced from $500,000. The distinctive $200 million tower, 31-level tower will include 201 apartments in one, two and three bedroom configurations.
